CALLAWAY STEELHEAD XR PRO IRONS 3-PW STEEL SHAFT REGULAR FLEX

The recent success of Callaway's Steelhead XR game-improvement irons led the company to create Steelhead XR Pro — a better player model that features a more compact head shape, thinner topline, less offset and a narrower sole.

Like Steelhead XR, the Pro version comes with the company's next-generation 360 Face Cup technology. Made from 17-4 stainless steel (face and body), the two-piece iron has a 360-degree annulus that's welded to the body and wraps around the perimeter

It's the same technology currently found in the company's fairway woods and hybrids. The ultra-thin face produces a spring-like effect that protects ball speeds on off-center strikes.

The hollow bore-thru hosel design made it possible to remove weight from the hosel area, repositioning it in specific areas within the head to boost forgiveness on mis-hits.

It also created a progressive center of gravity (CG) in the long, mid and short irons. The long irons have a low and back CG that increases launch and forgiveness. The CG on the mid irons is low and mid-back to promote a slightly more penetrating launch that offers extra control. And with a low and mid CG in the short irons, golfers will find it possible to produce lower, high-spinning shots with more control.

Improving feel is a steel-infused polyurethane layer that's positioned low in the head just behind the lower portion of the face. In addition to reducing unwanted vibrations, it helps lower the CG, which, according to Callaway, leads to faster ball speeds and improved launch characteristics.  

Callaway's Steelhead XR Pro comes in a Black PVD finish that makes the head look more compact from a visual standpoint.
